Anne Michaux was born in Luxembourg, lives in Berlin since 2000.
“I use photography as a means to tell stories, stories condensed in one or a series of still images. The pictures I take play with the notion of real and unreal.
What you see is a fictional world, a picture of a constructed reality, of a small scale model I have built for the sole purpose of making a picture of a world that I have imagined. It is a “real“ picture though, as I do not manipulate the picture after I have taken it, it is a faithful reproduction of the setting I built.
Thematically I am inspired by fiction, myths, dreams, science fiction, future scenarios, but also by walks through the city, by sceneries that are a bit “off”, not conforming to what is normally shown and seen as pleasing. I try to make pictures that are pleasing to the eye, but also unsettling, playing with the perception of the viewer.“
